Job Title: Security Guard (Unarmed) Exemption Status/Test: Nonexempt
Reports to: Director of Safety and Security Pay Grade: M4 ($18.15 - $24.67)
Dept./School: Samuel Clemens High School Days/Dates: 187
Primary Purpose: To ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors at Samuel Clemens High School by monitoring and securing the student/staff entrance gate and conducting preventative maintenance checks on district campuses.
Qualifications: Education/Certification: - High School Diploma or GED
- Clear and valid Texas driver's license
Special Knowledge/Skills: - Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism, situational awareness, and calm demeanor under pressure
- Basic understanding of security operations and procedures
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods
- Ability to monitor security systems and write clear, detailed reports
Experience: - Preferred: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military
Major Responsibilities and Duties: Safety and Security Operations - Supervise and secure the student/staff entrance gate during arrival, dismissal, and school hours
- Conduct routine security-related preventative maintenance checks across district campuses
- Monitor CCTV and other surveillance equipment for suspicious activity
- Enforce district safety and security procedures and guidelines
- Report and respond to incidents in accordance with SCUC ISD protocols
- Maintain detailed daily activity logs and incident reports
- Communicate professionally with students, staff, visitors, and law enforcement when necessary
Customer Service - Greet and assist students, staff, and visitors entering through designated entry points
- Provide helpful and respectful service while ensuring safety expectations are met
- Promote a safe, welcoming, and secure school environment
Other - Follow district safety protocols and emergency response procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information
- Attend required training and maintain readiness for emergency response
- Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: - Maintain emotional control under stress
- Stand and walk frequently, including extended periods
- Frequent lifting/moving up to 10 pounds
- Occasional lifting/moving up to 25 pounds
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Additional Requirements: - Clean criminal background check
- Strong attendance record is essential
