Manatee Memorial Hospital also offers a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for babies with special needs.

The Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner assists in providing seamless care to orthopedic surgical and nonsurgical patients by acting as a liaison between supervising physicians and other medical providers such as hospitalists and consultants as well as communicating and coordinating care with OR scheduling, patient support person and/or family members. Completes ordered orthopedic consultations, ER and nursing unit, as requested for supervising physicians, orders appropriate testing/imaging for patient evaluation and pre-operative testing for surgical patients. Contacts physician when consultation is complete. Schedules operative cases after consulting with supervising physician. Performs daily rounds on patients and orders appropriate testing including radiographs, labs, and urgent studies. Communicates updates with attending MD/APP. Enters post operative orders. Performs appropriate bedside procedures such as aspirations, injections, application of splints, braces, and casts, bedside incision and drainage, as well as closed reductions. Assists in surgical procedures as needed. Always demonstrates Service Excellence standards. Other duties as assigned.

Job Information:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner 
• 5-7 years specialized medical training
• Minimum of 3 years of OR orthopedic assistant experience required

• Master’s degree required
• Doctoral degree preferred
• Must be board certified
• Must hold or be able to obtain an active Florida Medical License prior to start
• Current BLS through the American Heart Association at start date
